The power of a converged fiber PON PON infrastructure multi-use is gaining traction. Recent advances in capacity, latency and reliability, to name just three areas, mean that a next-generation PON network is capable of supporting multiple services with different characteristics in a highly effective way. Broadband operators that move towards such a converged network architecture stand to benefit. However, there are a number of areas to consider to ensure a successful transition to a converged network. This research paper from leading industry analyst firm Omdia examines the use case of converging residential and business services onto the same fiber PON and concludes that the financial and technological advantages soon outweigh the implementation challenges.
