Tomas Petru is a member of the European Commission Center of Competence for Cloud and Software (DG CNECT Cloud & Software Policy Unit) and is leading its work on the implementation of several cloud policies and relevant elements of the European Data Strategy. His work aims primarily at promoting the wide availability and uptake of cloud services in public sector organisations across the EU by enhancing their trust and confidence in cloud computing, notably through interoperability, data portability, data protection, and security in regulatory measures.

In his role, David assumes the responsibility of spearheading the exploration of new business opportunities with cloud service and data centre providers. His responsibilities encompass the execution of market insights, strategic allocation of resources, cultivation of key customer partnerships, and strengthening of Nokia propositions aligned with customer needs. He also played a pivotal role in executing strategies to expand Nokia’s business through EU public funding opportunities, including participation in the CEF-Digital and RRF programs. He has also led business development efforts with a demonstrated track record of successfully capitalising on opportunities in the UK FTTP market and Project Gigabit over recent years. David has a bachelor’s degree in electronic information engineering from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China. In nearly 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, he has held several management positions in business development and solution sales, showcasing his proficiency and expertise in the field.
